Surrogacy procedure in India
Surrogacy is a prolonged, careful and highly expensive in nature .The decision taking might be initiated for parents or couple if they are aware that , there is no more chance to get pregnant, or when they come for check up about infertility the doctors might rule out the cause and let them know the fact that surrogacy is the final measure that suits them.
In any case, surrogacy and surrogate related procedures requires two parties, number one is the potential couple who needs a pregnancy and the number two is the voluntary or paid donor or who is in general called as surrogate mother but most importantly the agencies or surrogacy clinics as they work as mediators between these two parties to come to a conclusion and have a successful pregnancy at the end.
Surrogacy is a continuous and step by step procedure where potential couples to be matched with the surrogate according to the required demands or characteristics explained from couple. All they need is a healthy surrogate mother with normal bodily functions, no sort of serious illnesses, mentally stable and it is also significant to collect the background and familial details of surrogate because it helps to rule out the exclusion of certain demands kept apart from the potential couple.
It is important for both the parties to sign a consent letter that is legally bound with certain norms and regulations written in it. Things like non disclosure, rights after delivery of the baby, payment schedule from the couple etc can be clearly explained through this legal letter and most important is to have a certified lawyer for all such things. Once the legal formalities get finished then it is the role of clinic and fertility experts to deal with the issue from beginning till the delivery of the healthy baby.
In case of female partner that is unable to generate eggs, then the surrogate eggs are extracted in a stable environment and these are combined with the intended father's sperm in laboratory, and again transferred into the uterus of the surrogate who signed the contract that carries child until the delivery who is also known as traditional surrogacy or a surrogate who is biologically closure to the who is going to born.
In some cases where female partner fails to conceive to its full term, even when she is able to produce eggs, in such a scenario the ovum and sperm both are collected from the couple and combined together to create a unique embryos and then these are transferred into the surrogate uterus for further growth, known as gestational surrogacy (surrogate is not biologically related).
In rare occasions both mother's and father's intended eggs or sperms are used to achieve the pregnancy one or both can be obtained from a donor. In this intended parents are not biologically related to the child, unless when the intended father's sperm is used to conceive pregnancy. All these procedure include surrogacy laws, which needs to be clear before going through any treatment procedure.
Once the embryo is transferred then the next step is monitoring through out the cycle, hormonal treatment to nourish the embryo in some cases, periodic screening of intra uterine changes, growth and developmental screening of new embryo and counseling the parents etc need to be strictly done,.
